A Carencro man, whose home flooded, is accused of firing a shotgun in the direction of drivers who were driving through high water near his home in the 100 block of Rue Coupe Civique. Kelly Quirk, 47, is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a firearm and one count of illegal discharge of a firearm and was released after posting $22, 500 bond. ”
Around 11 a.m. Monday, the 68-year-old victim along with his 14-year-old grandson were attempting to get back to their home and were met by Quirk who pointed a shotgun at the men threatening to shoot them if they continued down the public road,” according to Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Capt. Kip Judice.
Quirk was apparently concerned that the wake from the passing motorists would cause the water to enter his home, Judice said. As the man continued to drive, Judice said Quirk fired the gun in the man’s direction. “Deputies believe that Quirk may have shot at several other motorists but those victims did not remain in the area to wait for deputies to investigate.” No one was injured.
