Fayetteville –Police in Fayetteville say no one was injured after a 5-year-old kindergartener chased children around a school playground and threatened to stab them with a pocketknife.
The Northwest Arkansas Times reports that the incident happened Tuesday afternoon during an after-school program at Asbell Elementary School. A school spokesman says the child wasn’t enrolled in the program and that he walked to the playground by himself.
Sgt. Craig Stout says the child was waving the pocketknife and trying to stab the children. Teachers were able to take the knife away and no one was injured.
Stout says the boy told police he was trying to poke holes in the ground – not stab the other children. The incident has been reported to the Department of Human Services.
