India is suffering through a heat wave that has claimed hundreds of lives already, and shows little signs of letting up.
Nearly 2,200 Indians have died during a weeks-long heat wave that has sent temperatures soaring to nearly 120 degrees.
The heat became so extreme that it melted some of India’s roadways, according to ABC News.
Most of those deaths occurred in the southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where dehydration and heat stroke have been the biggest threats, the Associated Press reported. Some villages are experiencing water shortages as a result of the prolonged heat wave, the report added.
