Husband ‘Killed Wife’ Because She Kept Waking Him Up

A husband has been charged with killing his wife because she kept waking him up, it has been reported.

Ronald Stolberg, 47, of Vernon Hills, Illinois, ‘forcibly held and restrained’ his wife Rachel Stolberg, 54, ‘on the ground with his body, thereby causing’ her death, according to the indictment by a grand jury.

Stolberg initially told investigators that he had finished his shift at an electronics manufacturer on June 7 and came home to his wife’s dead body.

But police thought differently. Stolberg was allegedly angry that Mrs Stolberg had woken him up during the night, according to authorities.

She died of asphyxiation, Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey said.

If convicted the suspect faces a prison sentence of 20 to 60 years. He is currently residing in jail having not provided $3million bond.

During a preliminary hearing on Monday Stolberg had complained about prison life saying: ‘There is no food.’

He had been wearing a red shirt in court, meaning he had been assigned to the Administrative Segregation Unit, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Christopher Thompson.

Last month Stolberg was put on lockdown after refusing to clean up his cell after flooding it, Lt Thompson added.
