HEAT SPORTS: Micah Hodges is making big plays on his way to success (Player Spotlight)

Deep in South Central Louisiana in the heart of the Florida Parishes, sits the rolling hills of the beautiful Felicianas. East Feliciana High School (EFHS) is nestled in the Town of Clinton, but includes students from all over the parish. Its athletic program is growing, particularly the football program. Thanks to the hard working students and dedicated coaches of the EFHS Tigers, they are kicking off the 2022 season with a bang. Head Coach Darius Matthew and his solid staff of experienced coaching professionals are working hard on and off the field to ensure the players have every tool needed for a successful season.

Meet Wide Receiver/Safety Micah Hodges. Micah is a seasoned athlete, having played sports since he was 8 years old. His favorite is of course, football, with basketball and track trailing closely behind. He is following in his mother’s educational path, as she graduated from the former Clinton High School, a school that was bursting with pride until the school system was consolidated. That energy has now carried over to East Feliciana High and its athletic program. Micah is currently mapping out his collegiate career, with plans to major in Business and Entrepreneurship. He will likely attend a Louisiana university, however he is still considering all offers. At this point, Micah enjoys hitting the field and “playing hard”. This 2 year starter had 3 tackles in his first game of the season, with many more on the horizon.

In addition to playing sports, Micah enjoys having fun and playing Madden. His favorite subject is Math. His favorite food is steak and he says he can even cook “a little”, though we suspect he is much more talented than that. We enjoyed our time talking to Micah and learning a bit more about his playing ability. We also loved hearing about the amazing support he receives from the coaching staff. When asked about the team, Micah said, “Instead of teammates, it’s like a family – it’s brotherly”. In an age and time where we are constantly bombarded with negative imagery, it’s a breath of fresh air to see young men coming together to play team sports with such success. You love to see it!

We wish Micah and his entire team and coaching staff a prosperous season!
