Here’s Part 4 of The Heat’s Exclusive with Kawanna Prout:
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: The new project with Ms. Tee is exciting. What all can we expect from it?
KAWANNA: You can expect some knowledgeable topics about real life issues dealing with our community. I am overseeing and executive producing the show which will fall under my company on which I am building now – which is a multi-faceted entertainment company. I will incorporate music, talent management, TV, film production, and publications all under one boutique. Ms. Tee will touch on things from HIV and AIDS to teenage pregnancy to domestic violence. Her show will deal with issues that we all need to hear about. She will be working with non-profit organizations and most likely community leaders and advocates for related issues. It will still be interesting because she will still put her own sass to the show and bring her personality. She has a lot of creative control over the show. She is the director and will do all of her own titles, direct her staff, etc. Ms. Tee is a smart business woman and I am honored to be working with her. We work well together and get along like we have been knowing each other for years.
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: As if all of your other endeavors aren’t enough, we understand that you are also delving into the music industry, particularly as a manager.
KAWANNA: I’m manager for R&B artist Glenn Burrell, who goes by the stage name Blaze. He’s been in the game for over 10 years now and he’s an R&B/soul singer. He began his career in a group, but Blaze has now embarked upon a solo career. He’s opened for quite a few artists and his vocals have been compared to KC Hailey (of Jodeci) and Tyrese. Blaze has a very powerful voice and I’m confident you’ll be seeing much more of him.
THE HEAT MAGAZINE: If you could have dinner with three famous people, who would they be and why?
KAWANNA: Oprah, Tyler Perry and The President – and can I add Jay Z, because he is my play husband. The man is just magnificent. I am really inspired by his story of starting out as a hustler and becoming one of the biggest names in the hip hop culture and well respected as a business man around the globe. Oprah is for all obvious reasons. Tyler and she are both pioneers that came from a struggle, faced adversities and built a brand. So far as Oprah, the Oprah effect is phenomenal. I have so many ideas that I would love to present my representative or senator because I support certain causes, and want them to become a law. Since only members of Congress can propose resolutions that are considered by the entire body, your task comes down to convincing a member to actually want to introduce your idea. Why do all of that when I can speak directly to the President and present it to him over lunch? Hey, you asked!
