Another strange crime story comes out of the Crescent City. On February 7, 2011, New Orleans resident Waltdell Davis reportedly shot his brother, Walter Davis, with a .22 caliber revolver during an argument over drugs.
An argument reportedly began after Walter Davis smoked his brother’s marijuana. Walter Davis reportedly went into his home in New Orleans’ Central City to take a nap, when Waltdell Davis woke him up and began to fight with him. Waltdell Davis pulled his gun and shot his brother in the upper lip.
Walter Davis was taken to Interim LSU Public Hospital where doctors told police they only found a bullet fragment near Davis’ left nostril. Dentists say that Davis’ gold tooth very likely helped him survive. They believe the trajectory and angle of the bullet were “just right†and coupled with the gold tooth, were just enough to save his life.
Waltdell Davis was arrested in connection with the shooting of his brother. He was also charged with a parole violation.
