GEORGIA FORCE PICKS DARNELL KENNEDY AS QB

GEORGIA FORCE SELECTS NEW QUARTERBACK

The Georgia Force brought on the talent when they selected Darnell Kennedy over Brent Elliott for the lead Quarter Back position this season.  Kennedy who initially signed with the Milwaukee Iron decided he wanted to stay home. Kennedy came out and lead The Georgia Force to a 12-6 season and a round in the championship against the Jacksonville Sharks in the American Conference Championship.

“I think we did everything right this season.  Sometimes things don’t always turnout the way you expect.  We were up against a veteran team and this was our 1st year playing together,” commented Kennedy on the season.  Kennedy’s go to guy was Maurice Purify 6’3 receiver who played with the Cincinnati Bengals.  Kennedy feels it’s crucial to have a good receiver on your team like Purify or his ideal NFL receiver Deshaun Jackson which can make the difference in the game.  When asked about the upcoming season, Kennedy said, “A lot of the players are from the area, hopefully everyone comes back and we have an outstanding season.”  While in college at ASU, Kennedy was often compared to Steve McNair, throwing 12,000 yards passing, 107 TD’s and 1,500 yards rushing.  Kennedy began his professional football career in Canada, playing with three different teams in the CFL. Kennedy played one season in the AF2 for the South Georgia Wildcats.  He began the 2011 season as the backup quarterback in Georgia and got his 1st opportunity to start in Week 20 against the Iowa Barnstormers. Kennedy was Offensive Player of the Week in that game defeating the Barnstormers, 63-59.  The force then went into the postseason facing the Cleveland Gladiators.  Kennedy completed 18 of 35 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Force to a victory.  Kennedy said he always imagined playing football professionally.  Although he played in the Canadian League, he regrets not being more familiar with Arena ball.  “It’s good to be able to play at home, be around your family and not have to quit your job.”  Now that the season is over, Kennedy is back at work and conditioning for the season.  Look out for Darnell Kennedy, March 2012 when The Georgia Force season resumes.
