DMX officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday, July 30th, in a Manhattan bankruptcy court. Legally known as Earl Simmons, DMX filed court papers which stated that he currently has less than $50,000 in assets and he has up to $1-$10 million in debt. He currently owes $1.24 million in child support and over $21,000 on an auto lease, along with other unsettled financial issues.

Chapter 11 bankruptcy is available to consumers and businesses, and DMX stated in official court papers that he filed in order “to enable me to recognize my financial affairs.”
