Arie described the moment she found out that her grandfather was her father when she was 14. ‘I just froze,’ she said. Her mother’s abuser, Aswad Ayinde, a music video director best known for the Fugees’ ‘Killing Me Softly’, was sentenced to 50 years in prison in August.
