Bin Laden Virus Warning On, Facebook And Google

Bin Laden-Related Links Warning: Everyone please be aware of numerous malware related websites and links that are popping up that claim to have photos and “insider information” about the killing of bin Laden. Attacks began last night as the news broke and are continuing, as are search engine poisoning attacks – attacks that create pages containing malicious code in response to searches on the subject.

We reported on the Facebook scam that promises a video of bin Laden getting killed if you copy a code into your browser’s address bar, but instead bypasses your browsers security controls leaving you at risk. This next Facebook scam isn’t as dangerous (it doesn’t give your computer a virus) but it is annoying.

The scam can be found on various Facebook pages, particularly “Osama bin Laden is DEAD” which at the time of this writing has over 400,000 “likes.” There are multiple users who have posted the same comments on the Wall: “Sweet! FREE Subway To Celebrate Osamas Death – 56 Left HURRY!” or “2 Southwest Plane Tickets for Free – 56 Left Hurry.”
