Teen sensation Justin Bieber’s popularity has never been in dispute – what is in dispute is whether he deserved the Grammy for “Best New Artistâ€. Of course, if you were to ask any of his fans, they would flat out tell you he deserved the award over a newcomer whose name was barely known – up until last night, that it.
After jazz artist Esperanza Spalding was awarded the Grammy for “Best New Artist†during last night’s awards show, it did not take long for Justin Bieber’s huge fanbase to take to the internet to show their anger and frustration for the Grammy winner.
Not only have some of his followers been quite vocal with their anger, but they have gone so far as to post threats on various sites, such as on Spalding’s Wikipedia page.
Twitter has been abuzz with the fans’ disses and even has a new trending topic displaying the hashtag, #bieberwasrobbed.
Bieber fans may think they are bringing attention to what they believe was an unfair winning Grammy pick, but it seems they are actually helping the world to know more about the once unknown Spalding. Â This debacle is just more proof of the power of social networking sites such as Twitter.
