(KATV) – It took three tries for thieves to ram a van through the door of Chrome City Custom Wheels and only minutes to leave with $14,000 worth of rims. Owner Crag Bratton says he knew the minute his phone rang at 11 p.m. that his store had been hit.
“They said glass break sensor, and I knew it was a break in like that because they’ve already hit the other businesses down the street,” said Bratton.
Bratton’s done everything he can to prevent break-ins, but when criminals are determined, they can often find a way inside the business. This time it left a huge hole in the front of his building.
“These guys need to get caught. They’re getting away with it too easy,” said Bratton.
Police responded quickly and security footage caught it all clearly on tape, but technology can only get you so far.
“The problem comes when you don’t know who you’re looking at, and that’s when we kind of depend on viewers of your station to kind of give us a heads up on who that person might be,” explained Lt. Sidney Allen of the Little Rock Police Department.
Bratton hopes catching these guys now could stop another business owner from having to deal with a mess like the one he has.
“About 45 minutes after the break in they found the van in Pine Bluff, but no luck finding the guys yet,” said Bratton.
