This week Curren$y and Styles P announce a joint collab, while Don Trip’s mixtape moves a few days, and Big K.R.I.T. gets a possible release date, as Wiz Khalifa gets a definite one.
Lately it seems like rappers are catching on to having real mixtape release dates.
Dropping these freebies whenever the mood strikes them isn’t always the move, considering mixtapes happen more frequently these days than actual albums. As February closes out, and March arrives, there are a few mixtapes (with dates) to check out right before March begins, starting with Curren$y and Styles P. Spitta Andretti and SP The Ghost announced a joint project called “#The1st28.” While it’s partially being touted as an EP, our friends over at DatPiff have the timer set for the free project to arrive, which is February 28th. The day before (as in today), Don Trip is scheduled for his “Gangsta Grillz: Guerilla” mixtape with DJ Drama. DX premiered the 2Chainz assisted “Pussy” just last week. The mixtape was originally set for February 24th, but got the gentle push to today.
Big K.R.I.T.’s “4eva N A Day” is looking like it’s coming March 5th. The week before last, K.R.I.T. dropped the sequel to his social-driven “King” freestyle,” aptly titled “King Pt. 2.” Meanwhile, as Wiz Khalifa hosted his “Taylor Allerdice” mixtape listening session yesterday in New York City yesterday, he announced on Twitter that the mixtape was hitting the streets on March 13th. Of course the leaks are still coming, with the most recent being “Mary x3.” Since we’ve been keeping up with Stalley’s dream of 50k on Twitter, here’s an update: he’s not there yet. So no date for “Savage Journey to the American Dream.” Still.
