NEW ORLEANS, LA (WWL-TV) – State agents said they caught 39 minors inside a bar during a raid Friday night. The youngest was four years old.
The Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control conducted the undercover sting at The Hangar in the 1500 block of South Rendon Street.
ATC authorities said the youngsters were inside the bar for a wrestling event. None were caught drinking, but The Hangar faces possible suspension and hefty fines.
A manager of the venue said he believes the citations are the result of a misunderstanding related to the wrestling match, which was a family event. He said no minors were served alcohol, and that none would have been allowed inside had he known that was against the law.
He added the bar is a safe place and has never been a nuisance.
Officials said the establishment has been the source of several complaints, and the owner was warned before the wrestling event that he could not allow people of all ages inside the bar
