1 death, 76 felony arrests during EDC weekend

Law enforcement officers made 76 felony arrests at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the three-night Electric Daisy Carnival.

Law enforcement officers made 76 felony arrests at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the three-night Electric Daisy Carnival.

Las Vegas Metro police disclosed figures after each night of the annual event, which promoters said was sold out for each day. In reporting health among the more than 400,000 attendees, police said one person died among the 1,426 medical calls placed over the weekend. Twenty-seven of the calls required transports to the hospital.

Despite the fact the festivities took place during the overnight hours, event producer Insomniac as well as emergency personnel urged attendees to hydrate amid near-record high temperatures during the day. The event provided free water refill stations on t he grounds.

The lone fatality was reported after Saturday’s event. The circumstances of the person’s death was not immediately disclosed.
