Woman Leaves Her 20-month-old Son In Car With a Dead Woman

A Louisiana woman is facing child abandonment and drug charges after leaving her 20-month-old son in a car with a dead body, authorities said.

Jessica Ockman was busted about 9 a.m. Friday after she was found passed out in a gas station bathroom in Metairie, police said.

Her son was discovered in a Nissan Altima at the station pump with a dead 22-year-old woman at the wheel.

The cause of the woman’s death has not yet been determined, but police say it was not the result of a criminal act, according to The Times-Picayune. Her name was not immediately released.

In addition to child desertion, Ockman also was charged with obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said Ockman carried a spoon, a lighter and a bag of marijuana.
