A dentist is facing assault charges after getting into a tug-of-war with a patient over her false teeth.
Dr Michael Hammonds has been accused of assaulting his elderly patient after she refused to hand back a pair of dentures.
His 85 year old victim was left covered in blood and bruises after grappling with the dentist and only escaped his clutches after trying to climb out of a window.
The bizarre denture bust up took place in Deltona, Florida, when Virginia Graham made a routine visit to have a new set of dentures fitted.
As Hammonds, 57, adjusted her lower set of false teeth she began screaming out in pain, according to sheriff’s spokesman Brandon Haught.
She pulled out the painful false teeth and threw them at the dentist, demanding a refund.
According to an arrest warrant when Hammonds refused to pay a refund his elderly patient made a grab for the dentures.
‘Hammonds held on to the partials as Graham tried to pull them away from him and a brief tug-of-war ensued,’ deputy Paul Mele wrote in his arrest report.
Police said the tug-of-war continued into the reception area and ended when Graham used her upper dentures still in her mouth to bite down on her dentists hand and make him release the disputed lower pair.
