Whitney Houston’s funeral will be televised.
A public memorial planned for Friday has been scrapped, but the late singer’s publicist has told media outlets that Saturday’s private family service at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey will be made available for television and internet streaming.
The funeral will be attended by some 1,500 mourners, including celebrity friends of the deceased like Chaka Khan, BeBe Winans, songwriter Diane Warren, music mogul Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid, Brandy and her brother Ray J, who was reportedly dating Houston when she died.
Aretha Franklin, the late star’s godmother, has been asked to sing at the service and gospel singer and pastor Marvin Winans will deliver the eulogy.
Houston, 48, died in a Los Angeles hotel suite on Saturday.
