With such diversity in today’s society, desire to indulge in various atmospheres as it relates to night life is rather great. New Orleans is a “gumbo” when it comes to entertainment and night life venues are the pot which houses the flavor. Although there is a multitude of great clubs and bars in the home of laissez le bon temps rouler, The Heat Magazine highlights three from the party menu of the Crescent City.
The Howlin’ Wolf is one of New Orleans’ finest locally owned and operated venues. Named after the legendary blues star Chester Burnett, The Howlin Wolf is located in the Warehouse District. This venue caters to most genres of live entertainment ranging from greats like Harry Connick to local and national hip hop stars.
With such heavy crowds in the Big Easy at certain times, particularly carnival season, party-goers may crave an alternative. On the outskirts of the city, there exists an answer. Who Dat Daiquris is an intriguing bar with karaoke and occasional live concerts and open mic showcases. Locally owned and operated, Who Dat is one of the fastest growing venues.
Music, drinks, and one other ingredient continuously draw loyal patrons to the shop with a “buzz”. Louisiana gets raving reviews for its delectable dishes. Known for its Wednesday Night Karaoke and free seafood night, the bar offers more. This is a great place to partake in “southern hospitality.” For more information, contact (504) 782-1209.
Taking it back to downtown New Orleans, The Heat Magazine looks a little closer at a venue where hip hop tends to rule. New Orleans is an eclectic city ranging from traditional jazz to second line to bounce music. In such a multicultural environment, the emcees gather at this venue to introduce the highest level of creativity and lyric prowess. Dragon’s Den is a bar near Frenchmen Street and it caters to various genres of live music. Known as a dive bar, the hip hop community loves to perform at this venue. Shows are generally thrown on Friday and Saturday. For more information, contact 504-949-1750.
With plenty to choose from, The Heat Magazine wanted to share some unique “diamonds” on the night scene of New Orleans.
