(SPECIAL HEAT) Video Tribute to Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston, The Heat salutes your beautiful spirit
Some among us have chosen to take the dusty road that leads to speculation and downright ugly thoughts. Whitney Houston was a beloved daughter, mother, friend, and American icon. It is now that we should be saluting her accomplishments.

Her acting skills and entertainment genius is one reason that African-Americans are finally getting roles and work in the entertainment industry, past the proverbial bones that had been thrown in decades past. We should be celebrating the positive accomplishments, instead of tearing this woman down.

We also should not be tearing down Bobby Brown – despite what may be known or just speculated about, Mr. Brown is a human being also – one who is most certainly feeling the loss of his ex-wife and the mother of his child. Now is not the time to judge him or his alleged faults.

The entertainment industry can be a double edged sword. Unless you are involved in it heavily, you cannot say how you would react to certain situations. Often times, we idolize celebrities, without fully understanding the hardships they face. Money isn’t everything and more often than not, entertainers are surrounded by yes men and enablers. It is a shame that this happens, but it’s the truth.

The family deserves privacy at this time and we should honor their requests for same. For this reason, The Heat chooses to focus on the positive accomplishments of this extraordinary entertainer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who will feel the void her death has left on their hearts.

Check out these videos selected as a tribute to the late great Whitney Houston. May she R.I.P.
