Darren Santee, a native of Hollygrove in New Orleans, envisions change in his community. After losing friends and family members, Santee decided to make an impact in his community. ”There’s something going on with our youth and we have to step in and figure out what’s going on.”

Santee tells the Heat Magazine the system is designed to perpetuate violence and hurt new generations of youth. ”We have to go hood to hood.”
He has been busy meeting with community members to form a unified board that can work in synergy with educators, social workers, the mayor, and other stakeholders.
Santee told the Heat that with prayer warriors and able bodied like-minded individuals, he is confident that positive results will occur.
The Heat will keep you informed on updates as Santee and the Hollygrove community pull together for change.
