Born in the beautiful city of New Orleans to a young woman barely out of high school, music has been a constant part of The Plug’s life. Picking up the pen at age 10, The Plug, aka The Black James Dean, has been honing his musical skills for over 15 years. Exposed to production in early high school, he got behind the boards and has been producing and engineering his own music for as long as he can remember.
Being the child of a soldier, he traveled many places in his youth, finally settling in Atlanta, Georgia at age 15. Home of the trap houses, bandos, and dopeboys, The Plug quickly fell into the fast money lifestyle Atlanta has become so well-known for. Dropping out of high school at 17, he left home to experience all that the A had to offer. Buying his first car and apartment with money made while hustling, he dove headfirst into the dope game.
Years of running the streets had its consequences, however, as he caught several felony charges and was sentenced to 3 years in prison. Realizing music was the only thing he has to keep him out of trouble and the streets, he dedicated his life to pursuing his dreams and beating the stereotypes.
Father of 3 beautiful girls and a son, he spends most of his time chasing a bag on the northside of Atlanta. Zone 2, Exit 6, to be precise. Constantly in the trap, his music tells the story of his day to day struggle and activities. No stranger to the grind, he leaves his testament for the world to hear.
