Hip-Hop artist Gallowayyys releases his latest project, “Back to My Room”
Born and raised on the south side of Houston, Texas, Gallowayyys spent his summers in Memphis, TN under the tutelage of musicians & singers in his family. This early intro to music would lead him to Dallas, where he attended college in Denton, a miniature version of Austin where SXSW is hosted annually.
There he began creating a new blend of psychedelic raps with influences ranging from neo-expressionist like Jean Michel Basquiat to Tame Impala and Travis Scott, a fellow Houston trailblazer influenced by Houston legend DJ Screw. This provided him a unique perspective on music which he used to pioneer a new wave of psychedelic hip-hop with deep cuts over transcendental, evolving instrumentals, which he produced.
Utilizing his early fandom in the urban hip-hop community in Deep Ellum and his distinct voice reminiscent of Kid Cudi and Kanye West, he is now breaking waves in 2020 with his signature pasteurized art and trip-inducing sound. Gallowayyys’ recent accomplishments have landed him on the radar of noteworthy gatekeepers like Dummy Mag, Obscure Sound, Reprezent Radio, Kitsuné Musique, Spotify’s editorial board, and more than two dozen additional media and label groups.
