East Coast Native, Da Kid Dow releases his latest single, “No Napkins”
East Coast artist, Da Kid Dow was born in Shawsville, Virginia – a very small town with a population of less than 1000. The independent artist-unlike any other -faced racism at school while he was a top student. Frustrated with facing an entire school by himself, he decides to switch to a larger more diverse school in Christiansburg, Virginia. By doing this, the academically and athletically student surrounds himself with more African-American students with similar interests. They begin making beats and recording diss tracks to play at school using a PlayStation 2 headset and a PC. Eventually, the diss records fade and Dow realizes his talent of song-making.
After graduation, Da Kid Dow attends Concord University; but drops out after one year and joins the United States Marine Corps. After his service, Dow moved back to Christiansburg VA where he joined the family cleaning business and opened his own Auto Detailing business. With business thriving, he randomly closed his doors on an April afternoon due to a battle with depression, alcohol, and drugs. He knew he had to get back to the music and that was the only thing that would keep him from hurting himself or others. He took a bus the next day to New York City and the rest is history. Dow hasn’t looked back since becoming the CEO of 540 Entertainment that represents Southwestern Virginia. Be sure to connect with Da Kid on social media and digital music platforms.
