A 24-year-old mother could face criminal charges after her four-year-old son was mauled to death by the family dog on Thursday night.
Jayelin Graham was pronounced dead on arrival at Brookdale University Hospital in Brooklyn after a horrific attack by his family’s pit bull.
Police said the boy suffered several severe bite wounds to his head, neck and stomach.
Two family dogs – one German shepherd and one pit bull – were removed from the home in cages and turned over to officials at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
The pit bull appeared to be heavily sedated.
Officials said the German Shepherd was not involved in the attack. Officials had not yet stated what would be done with the animals at press time.
