Louisiana Town’s Anti-Twerking Law Found to Be a Hoax

After a satirical website reported that the town of DeQuincy, Louisiana had outlawed twerking, some residents thought it might be true.

Mayor Lawrence Henagan told the AP that City Hall received 40 to 50 calls about the ban, and similar calls tied up two lines at the police station.

Henagan said many of the callers were laughing and knew it was a joke.

However, he estimated that more than half of the callers thought the article was true, despite it being clearly “baloney.”

The real mayor had this to say about twerking: “I think that’s a parent’s job, not mine, to decide if it’s appropriate for their kids to be doing that.”
