This New York judge didn’t mince words during the sentencing for a man who pleaded guilty to killing his family.
Miguel Mejia-Ramos, 28, pleaded guilty in October to manslaughter as part of a plea deal.
Prosecutors said Mejia-Ramos stabbed and killed his own wife and children back in January after seeing a picture of his wife with another man.
The honorable Kenneth Holder said no sentence could possibly be enough for such a unspeakable crime.
“You killed the mother of your children, the mother of your two children without even the thought of how their lives would go on without their mother.”
“Then, as though that was not enough, you turned and looked at your two sleeping children, kissed them, and one after the other, commenced to stab them to death while they slept.”
“I truly believe,” he went on, “that the person who invented the electric chair or the gas chamber must certainly have had you in mind when they designed it.”
“You are, without a doubt, a vile and despicable person, and it is truly difficult to find words to describe how sickening the people in this courtroom are of the sight of you.”
An attorney for the family said a plea deal was agreeable to them because it spared them the agony and pain of having to listen to the details and see the evidence of the crime during a public trial.
Mejia-Ramos was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
