Jennifer Hudson is returning to her humble beginnings and giving her fans to hop aboard a Carnival cruise.
In effort to attract more customers after some very unfortunate mishaps on their ships, Carnival has launched an on-board concert series called Carnival Live. J.Hud performed at a launch for the event in New York on Wednesday.
Jennifer told reporters at a news conference that signing on for Carnival Live is “like a full circle” for her. “I used to work on a cruise ship, a long time ago,” Jennifer explained. “That’s what I did before I did ‘American Idol.’”
Jennifer wasn’t working on the Disney cruise ship very long before she took the chance of a lifetime. She said, “Two days later, I went in and auditioned for ‘American Idol.’”
There’s no word on how long her particular gig will last or which ship she’ll be setting sail, but she is one of 14 major acts participating in the concert series. Chicago, Foreigner, Gavin DeGraw, Jewel, Lady Antebellum, LeAnn Rimes, Martina McBride, REO Speedwagon and Trace Adkins are also slated to appear during Carnival Live.
