(HEAT RECOMMENDED EVENT) Crown Royal & Playboy team up to help New Orleans military heroes charity

This has been a whirlwind week for many. We’re just coming off of the heels of one of the most important presidential elections – in possibly FOREVER – and we are headed into an NFL weekend that is sure to be memorable in many ways.

You would think with all this going on, that many would neglect to be good citizens – good corporate citizens, to be exact. Well, not Crown Royal and Playboy, who have teamed up to bring New Orleans, Louisiana and the world an epic concept for honoring our troops.

Tomorrow, Sunday, November 11, 2012, between 10 a.m. and noon, Crown Royal and Playboy will help to raise money for New Orleans’ own, Support Our War Heroes charity.

Crown Royal will be kicking off its second annual event, during which money will be raised for the local charity and care packages will be stuffed by attendees. The event is ingenious, in that it combines the best of both worlds – sports/entertainment and good works that will resonate for decades to come.

Before tomorrow’s Saints versus Falcons game, which by the way, is being held in the Crescent City, Crown Royal will provide adults age 21 and over an opportunity to give back to our military. Tailgating will take place on Poydras Street, between South Rampart and Lafayette Streets and attendees will have the opportunity to stuff special care packages for our servicemen and servicewomen, in honor of Veterans’ Day. The timing could not be more perfect and is obviously quite well planned, given the expected turnout of fans from both sides. Anybody who knows anything about Saints football, knows that the Falcons are their “archnemisis”, which will only serve to swell the numbers of those in attendance for both tailgating and game time events.

The event will also serve to launch the second annual Crown Royal Heroes Project, which is an ongoing project that demonstrates Crown Royal’s commitment to give back to America’s heroes. Tomorrow’s event will be the first in a series of celebrations, set in motion to give back to our military members and local everyday heroes.

Attendees will pack commemorative Crown Royal CAMO bags with items to be sent overseas. Those items include snacks, food and a postcard containing personal messages for the recipient.  For each bag stuffed, Crown Royal will be making a donation to Support Our War Heroes, a New Orleans based non-profit that assists military members who have sustained life altering injuries. Please support this most important organization and visit their website at http://supportourwarheroes.net.

Founder of Support Our War Heroes, Ms. Suzy McDaniel, will be present at tomorrow’s event, where she will speak about her work with New Orleans area veterans. She will also be on hand to accept the donation from the “Crown Royal Heroes Project”.

EDITOR’S NOTE:  A team “deployed” by The Heat will be out in full force tomorrow, in support of this most worthy event.  Please support both the Crown Royal Heroes Project and Support Our War Heroes. Both charities need our help! Don’t forget that New Orleans, Louisiana is the host city for the 2013 Super Bowl.
