(HEAT EXCLUSIVE) The Heat Kicks It Wit Kawanna (Part 1)

Ms. Kawanna Prout – Host of ‘Kickinwit Kawanna’ & much more

Fabulous shoes – check. Go getta attitude to the fullest – check. Talent for networking and making connections – check. Meet Kawanna Prout, mother, writer, executive producer, entrepreneur, and talk show host – a lady whose multi-faceted personality has taken her to bigger heights.

Kawanna is a native of Boothville, Louisiana, a small town located below New Orleans. It is probably that small town that helped instill her drive and determination, so it is only natural she ended up in New Orleans, the entertainment capital of the South.

A single, hardworking mother, Kawanna has quite the resume. Amidst the hats she wears in the entertainment industry, lays a full-time job in the public sector. As if that were not enough, she hosts a talk show that began airing a little over a year ago. A few months after its inception, Kawanna was presented with an opportunity for expansion of her brand.

Kawanna’s show, “Kickin It With Kawanna” now airs on WPUL My54 in the Greater New Orleans area. Kawanna has a slew of guests, from legendary music artists to urban artists to business people – guests from just about every walk of life imaginable.

Kawanna tells us that she always knew she was destined to be a star. It is evident that those seeds have been planted and are just beginning to be harvested. What her career blossoms into has yet to be seen, but The Heat is confident that it will be one that is memorable, with many stops made along the way. We had a chance to turn the tables on Kawanna – by interviewing her. Here’s what we learned:

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: For those who don’t already know, who is Kawanna Prout?

KAWANNA: I was born to shine – that is my belief! I grew up in Boothville, Louisiana, a small country town in Plaquemines Parish. Always had big dreams and a huge imagination. I always did dance to my own music, was always a true leader, and was never a follower. I always stood out, was very popular in high school and grew up in a small parish and was a force to be reckoned with. I always knew in my heart that some day, some how, I would land on the big screen! (LOL) I loved music, especially rap music and was very intrigued by the entertainment Industry my entire life. I am very creative and love to write and make up stories. I would always write, come up with ideas, characters, etc. during my down time or whenever something was bothering me. When I was upset about anything, I would write a song, poem, and story – anything – and it always allowed me to cope with whatever I was dealing with at the time.  I enjoy entertaining people. I started out playing around on Facebook. I always said I wanted to be an attorney and I still would if I could skip the school part and go straight to practicing law. I took the short cut and went to school to be a paralegal. I worked in areas of law for over 6 years prior to me becoming a government employee.
