We all want to ensure our kids have good role models to look up to. Victor Parra is one impactful pro soccer star and entrepreneur proving to be exactly that
Victor Parra is a professional soccer star who came from extremely humble beginnings. At a young age, the young Parra spent time in group (foster care) homes, during a difficult time when his mother was ill and unable to take care of him. This situation would potentially cause a lot of individuals to be disadvantaged, however, Parra turned this into a good thing. During his difficult upbringing, Parra spent all his time on his passion, which was soccer. Despite his challenging circumstances, he went on to achieve remarkable success. He attended and played at San Jose State University in San Jose, CA on a full athletic Scholarship. He was a double major and received his bachelor’s in Hospitality Tourism and Events Management, as well as international Business in 2017, he signed a professional contract in Europe for Argozelo in Portugal’s second division.
Now, Victor Parra runs an elite soccer training academy for kids in the USA. We asked Victor for his best advice to young people who want to play soccer professionally and here’s what he had to say. ‘’For me, my whole life has been soccer. I want to help kids who want to play at a higher level. Looking back at how far soccer has gotten me and how many doors it has opened, it inspired me to help others who want to take the same path’’.
This is probably part of the reason why he now dedicates much of his time, to giving free talks to school students all around the USA. Many young people see Victor as a role model, and rightfully so. Parra is a true success story that children from all walks of life can look up to. Most recently, Parra took to Instagram to announce the exciting news that he has been selected to play for Colombia in the upcoming World Cup!
“I’m very excited to announce I have officially been called up to represent the Colombia Men’s National team in this year’s World Cup in November being held in Guatemala, World mini football 7 v 7 pan American games. Humbled to have been chosen to play on such a talented squad,’’ says Victor Parra. He added: “Guatemala we’re coming to win it all! Thanks to Kalvin and the scouts and staff for believing in me and selecting me. Playing in a World Cup has been a goal of mine since I was a kid. Vamos Colombia!’’
