Hailing from Dominican Republic, 25 year old recording artist Mr. Chif El Prototipo is quickly becoming one of New York City’s favorite underground Latin artist. Hip hop fans across the country have already tuned in to his unique combination of melodic rap and raw lyricism. Now, with a versatile catalogue of music and an ever-growing number of streams online, Mr. Chif El Prototipo is set to become today’s next Latin sensation.
When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?
“My interest in music started at the age of 14 when I would hear people in the area I grow up in freestyle rapping. At first I was just a fan, but fell in love with the whole idea I can speak my truths through words, then I started to stand out in the neighborhoods of La Romana, and in Dominican Republic. This whole experience made me realize that I should continue to pursue my passion.”
On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?
“I came up with the idea of working on a mixtape in order to showcase off the different styles and melodies that I can create, but at the same time motivate upcoming new talented artist allowing them to shine on this latest project.”
What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?
“My biggest challenge is when it comes time create a video for the finished song project, I always try to include the best visuals I can for each song. I’m kinda a perfectionist meaning, I always find something I could have done differently.”
What artist in the game, would you love to do a collaboration with?
“I would like to collaborate with anyone, I feel has the same passion or make that fire lol, but honestly I’ve always wanted to record with Daddy Yankee or with Arcangel that will be next level vibes for real.”
