EPIC MOVE MAKER: Fat Mayweather

Often times when people think of club promoters, it conjures up images of less than savory characters. Meet Fat Mayweather of FMP Events. Fat’s here to blow that stereotype out of the water.

Fat Mayweather - Making moves & inspiring others

Philanthropist, stylish, classy, hardworking, and relentless are just a few of the words that come to mind where Fat Mayweather is concerned. To be known in New Orleans, Louisiana for throwing lavish and luxurious parties is huge – after all, New Orleans is considered one of the largest party venues in the world and it’s a competitive environment for promotions.

Friends of Fat Mayweather describe him as “larger than life” and they say, to know him is to love him. That’s a pretty huge accomplishment for an event promoter in New Orleans. He has a huge following on social networks and is known for his personalization of each and every event he handles. In fact, his newest venture FMP Events is expected to become the gold standard among event promotions in the South. It will include red carpet productions and is expected to showcase the creative genius that is Fat Mayweather.

What the public at large may not realize is that Mayweather is actually Mr. Rashad Lewis, a business mogul who has operated many successful business ventures, including a real estate company, travel agency, dumping and hauling company, and a car dealership.

As President and Chief Executive Officer of Fat Mayweather Productions and FMP Events, Lewis is known for his successful collaborations and partnerships. Much of this is attributed to his warm, personable attitude that shows through his million dollar smile.

Be on the lookout for much, much more from Fat Mayweather Productions and FMP Events, as the companies are raising the bar for lifestyle and luxury events in Metro New Orleans. As if those ventures are not exciting enough, Fat recently began a workout regimen that has not only worked, but has caused him to become an inspiration to many others!

The Heat is honored to have been able to catch up with this busy gentleman and we are excited to be able to bring this interview to you:

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Tell us about yourself – what you do and where you are from.

FAT MAYWEATHER: My name is Rashad Lewis, also known as Fat Mayweather. I am the owner of Fat Mayweather Productions and FMP Events. I grew up in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward. I graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and Southern University in Baton Rouge, where I majored in Music. I’m an Event Planner, Party Promoter and a proud father of two.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: How long have you been doing promotions?

FAT MAYWEATHER: I started out doing promotions about twelve years ago with Breather Life Records.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: What do you see as the future of promotions, given social media and this fast paced world we live in?

FAT MAYWEATHER: I believe social media networking and internet promotions will be around for a while, given that it’s one of the greatest marketing tools. The audience you can reach is unlimited through social media networking.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: You are an obvious success – what words of encouragement or advice do you have for a person entering the entertainment or business world?

FAT MAYWEATHER: First thing, you have to be a believer. Stay focused on your goals and main objectives. Have a strategic plan when doing business. Don’t treat marketing and promotions as a hustle. As an event planner/club promoter, it’s easy to get caught up in the job because a lot of people move off emotions, instead of making logical business decisions. Your main objective should always be to think of your target audience.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: We have to point out that your recent weight loss is incredible. Tell us how that came about and what all Body in Motion (BIM) did to contribute to that.

FAT MAYWEATHER: I saw a video of myself from three months ago from a recent trip to Miami and I didn’t like what I saw. One day I was talking to a friend of mine, LaJoan Williams, and she recommended B.I.M. Boot Camp Classes. From there, she introduced me to Shannon Williams, owner of B.I.M. Shannon and I met for a consultation regarding my weight loss goals. From there, she gave me a meal plan and workout routine. By sticking to the diet and exercise plan, within the first fourteen days, I lost a drastic 11 pounds and that made me a believer in Body in Motion and the workout plan which lead me to change my eating habits and lifestyle. I highly recommend Body in Motion to anyone who’s trying to lose weight and live a healthier life style.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: What’s in the future for Fat Mayweather Productions?

FAT MAYWEATHER: To broaden my horizons in the entertainment industry with promotions and events, concerts, comedy shows and exotic adult events. FMP Events will bring elite, upscale nightlife to New Orleans and surrounding areas. I would like to thank the city of New Orleans for supporting me with all of my events. Without them, there wouldn’t be a Fat Mayweather or Mayweather Saturdays. I would also like to thank Team Mayweather for hard work and dedication; we’ve become more than a team – we’re a family.

EDITOR’S NOTE: FMP Events has some epic events coming up, including the Big Christmas Eve Party and New Year’s Eve Party. Starting in January of 2012, FMP Events will bring an Elite Night Life to the New Orleans Club Scene, featuring stars such as Idris Elba, Tyrese and many more. Fat Mayweather has quite a large staff responsible for helping to organize his events. We wish him the best in all of his endeavors.
