An East Point teenager is defending her mother, who spent Tuesday night in jail because of a Facebook post in which she said she was plotting to shoot white police officers.
Her mother, Ebony Monique Dickens, 33, who goes by Tiffany Milan on Facebook, posted the following message on the social media site Monday night:
“All Black ppl should rise up and shoot at every white cop in the nation starting NOW. I condone black on white killings. Hell they condone crimes against us. I’ve thought about shooting every white cop I see in the head until I’m either caught by the police or killed by them. Ha!!!! I think I can pull it off. Might kill at least fifteen tomorrow. I’m plotting now. They reading this sh** too right now. Freedom of speech tho. So when you can absolutely show me the 1st amendment where it explicitly says you can’t say “kill all cops,” then I’ll delete my status. Other than that…NOPE! Death to all white cops nationwide.”
Kierra said her mom was just blowing off steam in the aftermath of the recent deaths of black men in cases involving white police officers.
“She’s been mad about everything that’s going on in Baltimore right now with innocent, unarmed black people getting shot and killed and white officers getting off,” said her daughter.
She said her mother’s Facebook post was not meant to be taken seriously.
“It was more of an attention ploy to get her message out. You know what I’m saying? It wasn’t like, ‘Oh, we’re about to go in with AK47s and blow up every police station,’ because we don’t have that ability at all,” said Kierra. “They came and searched the house and found one handgun.”
In court Wednesday, an East Point judge granted Dickens a $10,000 bond on a misdemeanor charge of dissemination of information relating to terroristic threats.
As a condition of her bond, she is not allowed to use social media.
