Da U Boys Prepare To Change the Industry With Release of ‘Tha Shutdown’

“As September 20th approaches, the will of a man grows stronger. The will of Da U intensifies as they continue to overcome hurdles in the wavering music industry. The hard work will bear its fruits because this group has become a mainstay in the rap. It’s much easier to quit when the battle seems tough, but this group is relentless.” – Music journalist Dion Norman a/k/a legendary New Orleans rapper Devious

It’s been a long time coming, but it’s almost here. September 20, 2011 is the date the game will change forever.

Da U Boys’ highly anticipated album, Tha Shutdown”, will be released and is expected to receive critical acclaim. The Heat has already taken a listen to the cuts included on the album and …. Well, let’s just say “Tha Shutdown” is a beast. It’s set to go down in history with legendary albums like “The Chronic”.

Coming from the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans17th Ward, Da U Boys bring their material straight from the streets to the studio. 17th Snoop, Rock and Hickk Louch make up Da U Boys and they have helped to brand their label, Rue Rois Music, like none other.

Together, Da U Boys are poised to cause the album to live up to its name. “Tha Shutdown” is set to do just that – shut down the game. One listen, and you just know there’s something different and special about Da U Boys. Without a doubt, Da U Boys are bringing it and they’re about to raise the bar.

As a unit, Da U Boys are a powerful force to be reckoned with – as individual artists, they have their own lyrical styles that mesh well to form a supergroup. It is this talent that is responsible for their recent NOLA Underground Hip Hop Awards nominations in the category of “Hottest Group” and “Hottest Mixtape”.

Da U Boys bring personality, charm, intelligence, street smarts, wit, and good looks to the table – qualities that have lead to a strong following by not only males, but also by females. Their social media game is strong and they stand poised to take the entertainment world by storm.

Da U Boys’ pull is so strong in fact, that several local New Orleans artists just this week, decided to record a stab in the dark at a diss song. Not only was the song about as wack and weak as it gets, but Da U Boys responded in kind and let’s just say, it wasn’t pretty – they shut down – no pun intended – the attempt at a diss to their music. As always, there really is no such thing as bad publicity. The negative efforts of a few scorned, wanna-be competitors of Da U Boys not only tanked, but just served to propel Da U further into the limelight that is getting brighter by the day.

“Da U Boys vividly explain and detail the street culture and underworld street life of New Orleans. They are a breath of fresh, rugged air to a somewhat stale and misrepresented New Orleans local music scene. Snoop, Rock, and Hickk Louch, are without a doubt, the best group to come out of New Orleans since the breakup of The Hot Boys. With the right people behind them, Da U Boys will show and prove on a national level and beyond, that there is a lot more to New Orleans than Lil Wayne. I believe that Da U Boys are the ideal candidates to carry the City of New Orleans and state of Louisiana on their backs and represent their hometown and state proudly in the music industry. Da U Boys continue in the footsteps of  legendary groups from New Orleans, like U.N.L.V, The Hot Boys, PxMxWx, P-N-C, and others, and they hold their own among said local greats. They are poised to make their mark and names known, on a national and international level.” – 11th Ward Nick, New Orleans Videographer/Aspiring Filmmaker

Da U Boys have been featured in Mighty Musik, The Heat Magazine, A Dose of LA, the NOUE blog, and The Sweet Lyfe Blog, as well as on Rob G Radio, Crescent City Radio and Pretty Girls Rock Radio, with many more appearances scheduled in the near future.

“Da U Boys bring a fresh perspective to the rap game, that we have not seen in a very long time. We fully expect their talent, ambition and intelligence to take them around the world, very soon. Da U Boys have a large fan base that is loyal, as they interact with their followers in a way that most artists can only hope to do. They are the next big thing in rap music, and they certainly bear watching.” – The Heat Magazine

Tha Shutdown” is expected to break records for unit sales and its sound promises not to disappoint. Be on the lookout for even bigger things from Da U Boys’ label, Rue Rois Music, LLC. The Rue Rois brand is set to become a household name, setting its sights beyond music, on films, media, clothing, and other items.

In case you didn’t know, Rue Rois is French for “Street Kings”. Beginning on September 20, 2011, the world will bear witness to the strength of these street kings and the effect they will have on the music industry.

The Heat recently caught up with Da U Boys and here’s what they had to say:

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Tell us about Tha Shutdown.

DA U BOYS: Tha Shutdown is our very first album! We’ve been working on it for about 2 years now. We feel it’s our best collection of work as a whole. It’s dropping exclusively on iTunes, Amazon and other internet outlets on September 20, 2011.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: What’s in the future for Da U Boys?

DA U BOYS: Our future goes further than we can even imagine! It’s been a hard road traveled, but we wouldn’t change anything – especially the lessons we learned along the way.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: How good of a feeling is it to know that success is right here for Da U Boys?

Rock

ROCK: It’s a good feeling, but we not there yet and even when you get to that point, you have to focus on staying relevant to maintain that success because you can be on top one day and hit rock bottom the next.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: How does it feel to know that all of Da U Boys’ hard work is paying off?

Louch

HICKK LOUCH: It’s amazing! We always dreamed we could be a major factor on the music scene, but to actually see it is humbling. Real humbling.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: What do you have to say to all the naysayers who never thought Da U Boys would succeed?

17th Snoop

17TH SNOOP: Hi haters!!!! (LAUGHS)

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Who do you want to work with in the future?

DA U BOYS: Some of the major players in the game – Rick Ross, Jeezy, Fabolous, Kanye, Birdman, & Weezy, just to mention a few.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: Who have been some of your biggest supporters and what do they mean to Da U Boys?

DA U BOYS: We’ve had so many people support what we do, we can’t even begin to name them all. But obviously they mean EVERYTHING to us! Literally, there would be no “us” if it wasn’t for the people who stand behind us. They mean as much to us as the music we make.

THE HEAT MAGAZINE: When can we expect a second album?

DA U BOYS: When we get that multi million dollar deal! (LAUGHS) But seriously, we’re just focused on our project at hand, ‘THA SHUTDOWN’. It drops on September 20, 2011. Hopefully everybody supports our effort.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Make sure to cop ‘Tha Shutdown’. The album is one for the record books and material you definitely want in your collection.
