The rapper Coolio was arrested this weekend and sent to jail. Getting arrested is old hat for many hip hop artists, but this arrest had an interesting twist: he was sent to the same jail as his son.
Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was arrested after being pulled over for a routine traffic violation. After running his license through the system, cops discovered that Coolio had two bench warrants out calling for his arrest. The warrants were for multiple traffic violations.
Coolio was then sent to the Clark County Detention Center, the same place that just happened to his hold his son Grtis. Coolio’s 22-year old son had been sent to jail for robbing someone at gunpoint. Coolio’s bail has been set at $5,850.
Grtis was arrested in November of 2011 after he broke into someone’s apartment with a gun and forced the tenant into the bathroom. The place was then ransacked by the 22-year old and a female prostitute named Shantrice Wilkerson.
The two broke into the home after Shantrice met a man at a club and told him that she fantasized about having sex on a pile of money. The man took her to his apartment to fulfill the fantasy, but when the woman asked for the money so soon, he became suspicious and told her to leave. But Shantrice remembered where the man lived and brought Coolio’s son back with her to rob him.
