The Associated Press is reporting this morning that an arrest warrant was issued for Terrell Owens after he failed to appear for a court date to set child support payments.
Owens’ spokeswoman, Diana Bianchini, said Saturday that he tried to reschedule an October 24, 2011 hearing in Contra Costa County Court because he had set up a televised workout in the hopes of hooking on with an NFL club. No teams attended the workout. According to the spokeswoman, Owens was looking for a new attorney and was representing himself while trying to change the court date. His new attorneys will reportedly handle the warrant issue. Owens is attempting to modify his child support payments since they were based on the approximately $12,000,00 million a year he was making in 2007 when he played for the Dallas Cowboys.
37-year-old Owens has been recovering from a knee injury that required surgery. He played 14 games for the Cincinnati Bengals last season, making 72 receptions and scoring nine touchdowns.
