A candid interview with singer/songwriter Ray Dickerson

Q: First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?

Ans: My name is Raymond C Dickerson. I am from Thibodaux Louisiana. My birth name is Ray Charles and I share a birthday ( May 3) and recorded my first song in Augusta Ga at the same studio used by James Brown. I didn’t really began to fully focus on music professionally until I retired from the military in 2010 an army Lt. Colonel. I am the self-proclaimed leader of the Motivational Music Movement; writing music that is Informative Insightful and Inspirational. Since then I have had several songs to chart on various mainstream charting services to include Billboard.

Q: What has been your biggest inspiration or influence musically?

Ans: I stand at the forefront of my parents sacrifices they are all that I am and more than I ever can be. Their guidance and examples along with my own life experiences has lead to numerous Epiphanies in my life, hence comes the name of my cd Epiphany.

Q: What advice would you give to beginners who are nervous?

Ans: Don’t try to be the next anyone, but instead be the only you.

Q:When you decide it’s time to make a new record, is that more exciting or stressful?

Ans: Always exciting because I want to make an impact musically be it informatively, insightfully or inspirationally.

Q: How do songs tend to come to you?

Ans: Through life experiences and awareness.

Q: What’s your motto or the advice you live by?

Ans: Never ask a blind person to interpret your vision
blind.

Q: What is you favorite song to belt out at the bar/in the car right now?

Ans: September by Earth Wind and Fire.

Q :What are your future goals as a music artist?

Ans: To continue to write music that is informative, insightful and inspirational and also to make a difference through music.

Q: What was your most memorable performance to date?

Ans: Performing with Thad Richard formerly of Paul
McCartney and Wings and son of Renald Richard who I got a woman on local gigs.

Q: Tell us about your current release or upcoming project?

Ans: Currently I have out Raymond Dickerson’s Command and Control Epiphany 2020 Cd and Raymond Dickerson’s Command and Control “A Song for Mama” the Unconditional Love ep” available at all major online outlets.
