Whoopi Goldberg is known to the world as the controversy diva on the popular morning show, “The View”, starring Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Barbara Walters, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Sherri Shepherd. But on last evening there was not anything about her stand-up show that mirrored her laid back and poised demeanor on that show.
In Bossier City (French: Ville de Bossier), LA a city that hosts three riverboat casino gambling resorts along the east bank of the Red River: Horseshoe, Boomtown, and Diamond Jack’s. Horse racing and gambling on slot machines is also available at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs in Bossier. It was at the Horseshoe where Whoopi Goldberg took the stage to a half filled house. Goldberg immediately educated the fistful of fans in attendance of who she was and what to expect by saying, “this ain’t The View and yes I’mma curse. I like cursing, I like the sound of some of the words”, she added. Letting them know from the door, that show would not be a Sister Act. The money winning hopefuls were in complete agreement with the household name comedian up until the name of our dear President Barack Obama came into play. Anyone who watches The View knows that Goldberg is one of President Obama’s biggest fans and one of Elisabeth Hasselbeck most controversial colleagues on the show when it comes to politics. It surely goes without saying that Goldberg doesn’t mind defending President Barack Obama at any cost. Not even if it means her audience will walk out during her show.
From a seat not far from the stage a female attendee yelled out in response to Goldberg’s, “Go Obama”,“ What has he done for us?” and then the attendee yelled, “Bill O’Reilly”! And without hesitation or thought Goldberg answered her with, “F&*^ Bill O’Reilly”! I’m not sure the young lady actually watches The View or listens to the news. If she were familiar with either of the two she would know that when Bill O’Reilly graced the stage at the morning talk show, The View, Goldberg got so frustrated with Bill O’Reilly that she walked off the stage! For those of you who are fans of the view it was Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar who walked off the set of the View after Bill O’Reilly indicated that the Fox News Channel-majority-sharedholder-funded-lower-Manhattan community center should not be built because “Muslims killed us on 9/11”. This time Goldberg didn’t walk off stage but patrons walked out of the show…by the groups!
It was already an up in the air decision for Goldberg to make the trip. The threat of all the bad weather that was headed southeast from Tropical Storm Lee had her making a last minute decision to board the plane. But in case you haven’t heard, some are calling the Shreveport/Bossier, LA, “The New LA”. Bossier City/Shreveport, LA has become a Mecca place for film companies relocating from Las Angeles and New York to produce smaller budget projects and to avoid many of Television and film unions and guilds representing professionals in the motion picture & TV industries as the AFI and the DGA, rules and regulations.
If it wasn’t enough that many of her, Republican State, attendees were walking out because of her profoundness towards Bill O’Reilly, those that stayed the course to actually hear the show were too a bit disappointed at Goldberg. Goldberg is no stranger to indulging in a little extra curriculum, “weed” smoking, but when she advised her audience to get off their kids back about smoking saying, “at least you’ll know where they are. They have to be home close to the frig”, she lost some of her momentum with the crowd. Probably in many other genres of people the plot she was building would have been hilarious, but down in the bottom of the Boot, they couldn’t get with the program. Overall Goldberg did an outstanding show. I just don’t think she will be considering coming back to what some call, “The Republican State” any time soon.
