“I want to make an impact on society and that pushes me.” – Y.LUCK
Every once in a while, superstars come along who are missing nothing but opportunity. Meet Y.Luck, who’s just that sort of superstar. He first rose to recognition with New Orleans supergroup, The Rap Pack, but his talent transcended even that. Having appeared on BET’s “Music Matters” in 2013, his stage presence is as amazing as his resume. He raps, sings, performs, and even acts. His hit song “Walkin Thru New Orleans” came years after Hurricane Katrina struck the area; it featured legendary New Orleans native Fats Domino.
Ask anybody who’s seen Y.Luck in action, and they’ll tell you he is untapped talent just waiting to be discovered. He’s performed alongside some of the greats such as Mystikal. He’s been in the studio with countless talent. He’s even done some acting, which to hear him tell it, may actually be his first love, even though music is as close to his heart as it could possibly be. Family is another thing close to Y.Luck’s heart – and that may be what makes the biggest difference of all. He has a support system like none other.
We recently had a chance to catch up with the phenomenal Y.Luck and here’s what he had to say:
THE HEAT: Tell us a little about yourself.
Y.LUCK: I’m from New Orleans, Louisiana. I’m an entertainer who is focused on getting my music out there. I’m a motivated, self-starter who is a hard-working philanthropist, on top of my art. I believe that giving back to my community is very important.
THE HEAT: Growing up, who were your musical influences?
Y.LUCK: That would be DMX, Jada Kiss, Pac, R Kelly, and Michael Jackson.
THE HEAT: What kind of music do you listen to?
Y.LUCK: I listen to all kinds – country, rock, pop, old heavy metal, and just about anything you can name.
THE HEAT: Who all have you worked with in the past?
Y.LUCK: I’ve worked with J Lyric, The Rap Pack, Roi Anthony, Juvenile, Skip, Mystikal, K Gates, The Show (Don Flamingo), Nave, Dash, Young Greatness, and KC Da Producer, among others.

Y.LUCK: August Alsina, Lil Wayne, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, R Kelly, DMX, Eminem, Rihanna, and Fantasia.
THE HEAT: Do you have any plans to expand into any other avenues of entertainment?
Y.LUCK: I’ve acted in quite a few productions over the years, including roles in a play that toured around the country, several short films, the movie “Hurricane Season” and “NCIS”. I definitely plan to continue writing, directing and starring in future productions. I am multi-talented and plan to showcase that.
THE HEAT: Where do you see yourself in the next decade, career-wise:
Y.LUCK: I hope to be one of the most influential and best-selling music artists and global icons of all time. Once I do, I’ll use my celebrity and available resources as a platform to travel the world, helping as many people and communities as possible. I want to make an impact on society and that pushes me.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Y.Luck has a new project coming out later this year. It’s entitled “IH8RAP”, produced almost entirely by KC. Stay tuned because this will be one to remember!
