A man was shot and killed in a Memphis apartment complex Sunday before noon.
The shooting happened in the Prescott Place Apartments located in the 1700 block of Morlye Street.
When police arrived, they found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.
Witnesses told police 2 men were seen driving away in a white car.
Neighbors said a man returned from getting groceries to find two men in his parking lot. They said the victim went up the stairs to his home and was approached by the men, who demanded he open the door and tried to rob him.
When he refused, they held a gun to him and and when he still refused to open the door, they shot him.
Neighbors said it didn’t end there. Those who heard the gunshots tried to block the entrance to the complex so the suspects could not leave.
That’s when they said the men began shooting at them.
No arrests have been made yet.
