At least three people were killed and 10 others wounded in shootings in Chicago Friday, the first day of summer.
At least two other people suffered gunshot wounds early today, for a total of three shot to death and 12 others wounded in shootings since Friday afternoon.
About 8 p.m., four people were found shot in the 2900 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue. The man died later at Stroger Hospital and the three others were in critical condition, authorities said.
In the 2800 block of North Spaulding Avenue a little after 8 p.m., two people were reported shot, according to the Fire Department. A 36-year-old man died and a 61-year-old was wounded.
Police had few immediate details, but confirmed that at 8:08 p.m. two men were wounded on Spaulding. The two were outside when someone came out from between two parked cars and fired at them. One man shot in the chest was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a serious wound, according to police.
The other man, who police said was wounded in the lower leg and with a graze wound to the head, was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in serious-to-critical condition, according to the Fire Department.
About 5 a.m., a man suffered a graze wound to the back of his head near 5000 South Winchester Avenue, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli. The man was on the street when he heard shots and felt he had been hit. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital for treatment.
Just before 3 a.m. a 24-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 1600 block of South Christiana Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood. He’s in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
A 19-year-old was shot about a half hour earlier on 61st Street just west of Ashland Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood. The teen is in stable condition at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with wounds to his arm arm and abdomen.
A 14-year-old boy was shot in the 4000 block of West Fillmore Street in the Lawndale neighborhood about 10:10 p.m., police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to his ankle and a graze wound to the head. Police said he ran home after getting shot.
Someone inside a dark car or truck shot a 28-year-old man about 11:15 p.m. Friday in the Galewood neighborhood. The drive-by shooting left the man in stable condition at West Suburban Medical Center with a wound to his thigh.
In the South Chicago neighborhood about 11 p.m., a 23-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the leg. He had been shot in the 8800 block of South Exchange Avenue and was found in a front yard.
About 7 p.m., a 22-year-old man walked into the University of Illinois Hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand. He told police he had been shot in the 2300 block of West Roosevelt Road in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood.
About 6:30 p.m., a 37-year-old woman was shot in the ankle in the 8100 block of South Drexel Avenue and was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition, Zala said.
A man was shot to death in the West Garfield Park neighborhood this afternoon, wounded in the head and abdomen in the 4400 block of West Adams Street about 1:31 p.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
