A 16-year-old female student has been charged with having more than 350 images and videos of herself and other young people performing sex acts on her school-issued laptop.
Police in New Holland, Pennsylvania say most of the images involve the Garden Spot High School student in different levels of nudity performing or simulating sex acts on herself.
There were also more than a dozen videos of teenagers doing similar activities that were found on the laptop, authorities said.
The girl, who lives in the community of Ephrata, was charged with two counts of possessing obscene and other sexual materials.
A tipster informed the school in January that the content was on the laptop.
Police later found 354 images of the girl and 13 teenagers ‘engaging in prohibited sexual acts or in the simulation of such acts,’ according to a police report.
Some of those images included young adults.
The girl could also be seen engaging in sexual activity with herself in some of the content, authorities said.
Robert Hollister, superintendent of the Eastern Lancaster County School District, said in a statement that none of the illegal activity occurred on school grounds.
The school issued the laptops to students to conduct school work as part of the ElancOnline Virtual Academy.
District officials said the school will continue to provide laptops for students despite the incident.
Mr Hollister said: ‘At no time did the student download illegal images during school time, on school property, or through the school system.’
