In this day and age there are no shortage of zombie games available. Hell there have been over twenty in the past 4 years out on everything from the “next gen” consoles (PS3, 360 and Wii) to facebook. It seems the whole world had been taken over by the fascination of the impending zombie apocalypse. I’m not going to lie, I was totally into this sensation, I had zombie everything! I played hours and hours of Left4Dead 1 and 2. I bought zombie book after zombie book. I even bought a make your own adventure book about the zombie apocalypse. Which didn’t make me feel any better about my chances when the hordes of the walking dead invade our world, seeing as how most of those adventures ended in me taking a wrong turn or accidentally killing off an entire school bus of children….I’m a horrible person lol. After all these years of buying into this trend I was starting to get sick and tired of it. Now my interest has been renewed with Lollipop Chainsaw, from the mind of Suda51.
This is the game the zombie genre needs to stay alive in my opinion. From what I’ve seen it doesn’t take itself too seriously, just a fun story with fun characters and zany action. The developer Grasshopper Manufacture keeps it fresh with out of this world moves from an out of this world heroine.
Meet Juliet Starling, a smoking hot blonde cheerleader from San Romero High School. Yeah you read right, Romero, Grasshopper treads on some legendary territory. Juliet is also a licensed zombie hunter with amazing…..ahem “assets”…. Anyway, she carries with her the disembodied head of her boyfriend Nick Carlyle. Don’t ask how he is still alive, this is Suda51 we are talking about, it is better to just roll with it.
Her main weapon is of course her trusty chainsaw, but she also uses her acrobatic skills and her boyfriend’s decapitated head to fight off the legions of the undead.
The story thus far is that classes have been dismissed indefinitely at San Romero High due to the blood thirsty, brain munching army of zombie abominations. The rumor is that Swan, a goth sorcerer and one of Juliet’s former classmates, started the zombie outbreak for unknown reasons. The reasons aren’t really important at that point though. All that matters is that our blonde bombshell stops the evil Swan and the “Rock and Roll Overlords” that were summoned to lead the zombies in their conquest.
Now days pre-order bonuses are common place and Lollipop Chainsaw isn’t out of the loop in that department. For pre-ordering the game you will receive exclusive skins that can be used in game to give your play through even more flare.
