An overnight 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck Japan, causing a 23-foot tsunami that wrecked the Japanese coastline.
Initial reports are that hundreds are dead and thousands are missing. Tsunami waves have begun striking Hawaii and tsunami warnings are posted all along the Pacific Rim and U.S. West Coast.
Early photos and video coming out of Japan depict the grim scene, showing ships washed atop buildings and cars and homes being swiftly swept into the rising sea.
Experts predicts up to 6 foot waves will hit Hawaii, as residents continue to be evacuated.
