6 Arrested In Waka Flocka Shooting

Six men were arrested Saturday by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police in connection to the shootout where an Atlanta rapper was targeted.

Shots rang out Wednesday at a car stereo store on Independence Boulevard. Police say Waka Flocka Flame and his entourage were waiting on a stereo upgrade for their tour bus.

The 24-year-old rapper, whose real name is Juaquin James Malphurs, was not hurt. However, one other person was injured.

Police have charged the six suspects with armed robbery, conspiracy, and two counts of shooting into an occupied property.

They are: 20-year-old David Ralph Bellamy, 23-year-old Andre Lamar Sellers, 20-year-old Antonio Lamar Stukes, 20-year-old Antoine D. Washington, 21-year-old Xavier Tariono Hoover, and 21-year-old Barry Lawrence.

Bellamy was on probation for breaking into cars, Sellers and Stukes were on early release from prison.

Washington had been arrested the same day as the shooting for driving with a revoked license, eluding police and reckless driving. He was released on bond and later picked up on the charges stemming from the shootout.

Police spokesperson Rob Tufano said two vehicles drove into the store’s parking lot around 4 p.m. as the rapper spoke with fans and had his picture taken. Men in at least one car and people in the rapper’s party exchanged gunfire, Tufano said.
