50 Cent was at the Cipriani Restaurant in downtown Manhattan on Wednesday as part of the “Our Table Is Yours” event. The rap veteran, in conjunction with the Food Bank for New York City, SMS Audio, the Food Network, and Feeding America joined together to serve Thanksgiving meals to families who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.
MTV News was on hand at the special event and 50 shared a few words with them.
“I’m able to provide meals for victims of Sandy or other people in New York City that don’t actually have food. [Hunger,] it’s a world issue, it’s not a third-world issue. One in six Americans are actually going hungry. You got kids that’s surviving based on their school lunch and more than one out of five kids are experiencing hunger.”
While he is performing a good deed by providing food for those in need, 50 Cent says he’ll get his Thanksgiving fix at his grandmother’s home.
“I don’t cook. I’ll go to my grandmother’s house; it’s always safe there to eat. You know the food is always decent,” he told MTV News.
