A 400 pound Pontiac, Michigan woman‘s alleged theft attempt went awry this when her motorized scooter got stuck in the door of a chain store in Rochester Hills.
30-year old Jerrie Perkins was reportedly attempting to leave the Rochester Hills Meijer with more than $600 worth of stolen electronics when her scooter became wedged in the door and she was unable to make her getaway. She has been charged with unarmed robbery, resisting an officer, obstruction, and second degree retail fraud.
Investigators say the door alarm was activated when Perkins passed through it around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday. Meijer employees approached her asking for a receipt for the stolen items. Perkins, who is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs in at 400 pounds, shoved a security officer and struck her in the face.
After an Oakland County Sheriff‘s deputy arrived, Perkins reportedly began cursing and took a fighting stance. The deputy tasered Perkins, who was then placed under arrest and transported to jail.
Perkins‘ bond has been set at $15,000.
