BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — Dozens of people have been injured in an estimated 100-vehicle pileup that forced the closure of Interstate 10 in Southeast Texas.
KFDM-TV reports that the collision happened around 8 a.m. Thursday on I-10 near Beaumont, about 80 miles east of Houston.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says at least 100 cars and trucks crashed in extremely dense fog. Officials at Acadian Ambulance service tell KFDM that at least 48 people have been taken to area hospitals.
No deaths have been reported.
I-10 remains shut down in both directions.
